KATHMANDU: Daffodil School defeated Nirmal School 30-20 in the boys’ section match at the seventh Gyan Niketan Basketball Tournament here on Monday. In another match, Abisekh netted 14 points to guide Brihaspati Vidhyasadan to 46-35 win over Learning Realm International (LRI). In other boys’ matches, Teresa Academy beat VS Niketan 54-44, Unique School eased past Nalanda School 57-30, Wilson Academy edged Baba Boarding School 51-42, hosts Gyan Niketan crushed Jagat Mandir 61-33 and Gillette School overcame Cambridge School 42-13. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Defending champions Prime College outscored Nagarjun College 86-8 in the boys’ section match of the Inter-college Basketball Tournament held under Weeka Talentia here on Monday. Rabi Giri alone netted 42 points for Prime in a match where Nagarjun failed to even open their account in the first two quarters. Orient College won both their boys and girls’ section matches. The boys’ team defeated Classic College 49-44 and the girls’ team beat hosts Kathmandu Don Bosco 24-10. In another boys’ match, Himalayan White House College edged past National Integrated College 56-39 riding on a 26-point from Tashi. — HNS

BHAKTAPUR: Kavre Offset Press registered a hard-fought 25-19, 23-25, 25-12, 22-25, 15-7 win over Banepa Municipality in the fifth Nationwide Workers’ Cup Volleyball Tournament on Monday. Jevan Thapa of Kavre Offset Press was adjudged man of the match. In another match, ECS Manpower beat 26-24, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12 with Subhash Khadka earning man of the match award for the winners. Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club will meet Kathmandu Alfa Beta Institute and Nepal Police will face Kavre Offset Press on Tuesday. — HNS
