2 killed in mishap
NEPALGUNJ: Two persons were killed when a motorcycle hit a truck at Pipari on Kohalpur-Nepalgunj road on Friday night. Suraj Pun, 25, of Nepalgunj-1 and Arjunjung Shahi, 27, of Chisapani were killed when the motorcycle they were riding hit the truck at 11 pm, the Kohalpur Area Police Office said. Pun was employed with the Namaste Transport Entrepreneurs’ Committee. The committee members obstructed road for about two hours on Saturday demanding an investigation into the accident. — HNS
Property looted
RAJBIRAJ: A gang of robbers looted property and cash worth seven lakh rupees from a passenger bus at Kadmaha on section of Mahendra Highway in Saptari on Friday night. Ekta Travels bus was heading towards Kakarvitta from Janakpur at 1 am, ASI at Koderbona Area Police Office, Dipak Karki said. — HNS
Man shot dead
SIRAHA: Cadres of the Tarai-Madhes Mukti Morcha on Friday night shot dead 30-year-old Dhuran Kamat of Hanumanagar Pradha on the charge robbery, TMMM district commander Bikash said. The body was found in a field at Santnagar on Saturday, locals said. — HNS
Bikes collide: 2 dead
RAJBIRAJ: Two persons were killed when two motorcycles collided in Bansera VDC on the Mahendra Highway in Saptari district on Saturday. Motorcyclists Nom Khadka (Narendra) of Biratnagar-7 and Prabesh Biya were killed when their motorcycles collided at 1 pm, police said, adding, Khadka and Biya who were critically injured in the incident succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. — HNS
Bandh called off
ITAHARI: Indefinite Koshi zone bandh organised by the Transport Entrepreneurs’ and Workers’ Organisation called on Friday was withdrawn on Saturday. A meeting of transport entrepreneurs, workers’ organisations and Koshi Transport Management Office held at Sunsari DAO decided to withdraw the bandh. Workers’ leader Bhim Rai said the decision came after the eight-point pact was reached between KTMO and the DAO. — HNS
Thapa’s warning
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Janashakti Party chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa on Saturday warned of undesired consequences if the government tried to hold the Constituent Assembly election without settling the Tarai issues.
