Plan to mark Democracy Day in grand way

Kathmandu, February 12:
The 58th National Democracy Day will be celebrated throughout the country for three days on February 18, 19 and 20.
The decision to mark the day was taken today at a meeting of the 58th National Democracy Day Main Celebration Committee held at the meeting hall of the National Planning Commission in Singhadurbar. According to the decision, the municipalities in the valley will be illuminated on all the three days and national flag will be hoisted atop the buildings.
A public appeal will be broadcast through media on February 18 for celebration of the Democracy Day in a grand manner.
Nepal Army will sound the reveille from the Bhimsen tower and fire salvoes from the canon and guns in celebration on February 19. Prayers will be organised wishing eternal peace to the souls of martyrs and the Prime Minister will give a message on the occasion.
Chairman of the 58th National Democracy Day Main Celebration Committee and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is scheduled to address the main function to be organised at the Army Pavilion. The PM will also host a reception at Sheetal Niwas. The day will also be celebrated at the Nepali embassies, diplomatic missions and consulates abroad on all the three days. The DDCs and VDCs across the nation will organise programmes.
The Celebration Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister and includes the Chief Justice, the Speaker, ministers, former prime ministers, former chief justices, former speaker, Deputy Speaker, Supreme Court judges, MPs, office-bearers of the constitutional bodies, office-bearers of NPC, vice-chancellors of the universities, chiefs of the political parties, the Chief of Army Staff, chiefs of the municipalities in the Kathmandu Valley and government secretaries as members.
