Palpa, February 12:

A dispute between students and transport entrepreneurs led to traffic disruption on the Butwal-Tamghas road this afternoon. The road section later opened at 7 pm following an eight-point agreement between the clashing parties.

Earlier in the day, students of Tribhuvan Multiple Campus, Palpa, angry over the beating up of one of their friends by the transport workers while asking for student concession last evening, took revenge in the afternoon. The transport worker who was critically injured in the melee is undergoing treatment at Palpa Hospital, police said.

Transport entrepreneurs, however, claimed that the student was never beaten up and disrupted traffic at Bartung on the Siddhartha Highway to protest the beating up of the transport worker.

The parties in conflict are holding talks to settle the issue in the presence of transport entrepreneurs, local administration and journalists. The students staged a demonstration at the district police office demanding transport fair concession for the students.
