NSU flays attacks

KATHMANDU: Nepal Students’ Uni-on on Tuesday condemned the attack on NSU leaders at Dadeldhura and NC candidate in Rasuwa by Maoists on Monday. NSU president Pradip Poudel warned the Maoists to correct their activities. — HNS

German MPs in Kavre

KAVRE: A team of six German MPs on Tuesday met the conflict-hit people and at Panchkhal village development committee here. They met Devi, whose daughter Maina Sunar was murdered by army men during the conflict; Til Kumari Dahal, whose husband Arjun Dahal was killed by Maoists; Krishna Singh Tamang, who was held captive for nine months at his home and rehabilitated teachers Purushottam Sapkota, Govinda Poudel and Krishna Prasad Dhakal. Earlier, the team met INSEC representative Bhoj Raj Timilsina and learnt about human rights condition in the district. — HNS

Two killed in mishap

PALPA: Two persons were killed and three others were injured when a jeep heading to Pokhara from Palpa met with an accident near Lahasune of Chidipani VDC-2 of Siddhartha highway on Tuesday. Parbati Thapa of Lamachaur-16 died on the spot, while Kripa Thapa, 20, died while she was being rushed to Tansen based Mission Hospital, police chief Bhim Prasad Dhakal said. — HNS

Bomb explodes

BARA: A bomb planted by Janatantrik Mukti Morcha - Jwala (JTMM-J) in Nitanpur chowk of Bara’s Chhata-pipra VDC went off on Monday night leaving no casualty here, Jitpur police post said, adding that a NA team also found another socket bomb, which they disposed on Tuesday. — HNS

Maoists nab four

TANAHUN: CPN-Maoist nabbed four persons with weapons and handed them over to the police on Tuesday afternoon while they were coming to attack the Dumre-based constituency no 1 contact office of the Maoists.
