Khotang, April 17:

Cadres of the Young Communist League today set fire to a house of NC leader Padam Niraula at Sapteshwar VDC in Khotang.

Niraula is general convention representative of the party from Constituency No 1 of the district.

Niraula said YCL cadres Laxman Rai and Tika Rai were involved in the incident. He said the YCL cadres might have torched his house as he had accused the Maoists of rigging the April 10 polls. Property worth Rs 6 lakh was damaged in the incident, he said.

Party’s district committee secretary Mahendra Kumar Katuwal has lodged a complaint at the district administration office, seeking action against the YCL cadres.

Likewise, YCL cadre Wastemba Sherpa beat NC cadre Bhakta Bahadur Parajuli in Anselukharka VDC. Condemning the incident, NC district unit called authorities for stern action against Sherpa.

NC co-chairman Subhas Kumar Pokhrel said YCL cadres were losing their control and beating up activists of other parties, threatening people and damaging others’ property after the Maoists’ unexpected win in the Constituent Assembly polls.
