KATHMANDU:
An art exhibition titled ‘Masks, Expressions we wear’ was inaugurated at Gallery 32, Dent Inn, Heritage Plaza on April 20. The paintings have been created by Korean artist Oh Soo Jin. As the name suggests all the paintings are of masks or different facial expressions of people with a interesting combination of different colours and shapes that form each mask.
According to Soo Jin, “Each individual has a different face and emote different facial expressions in different situations, be it happiness, sadness or any other feeling that people have. that is what I have tried to capture.”
Her paintings also delve into the fact that people portray different expressions than the ones they are feeling, which she compares to a mask.
“I was very much impressed by the colourful surroundings in Nepal, be it nature, culture or the general lifestyle, there is so much colour all around,” she added.
According to Kim Hyoung Hyo, who is associated with the exhibition, “This exhibition is a part of Nepal Korea exhibitions.”
Previously, exhibitions of four Nepali artists were held in Korea and this is the first time the work of a Korean artist is being displayed in Nepal under their programme.
The exhibition is on till May 5
