Fire destroys property worth over Rs 1 crore

Dhangadhi, April 25:

Dozens of cattle perished and 12 houses and 17 barns were completely destroyed after a fire broke out today at Rana Basti in Jugeda village of Kalaili district’s Dhangadhi municipality-11. Property worth over Rs 1 crore was destroyed in the blaze.

The fire spread at 11 am from Chuntu Rana’s barn to the dried stumps of harvested wheat in the fields. Twenty-five goats, three buffaloes, two cows, two calves, two wheat threshers and a shop as well as 12 houses and 17 barns were destroyed by the fire.

Baliram Rana, Shankari Rana, Jivan Rana, Chingu Rana, Bhanu Rana, Chuntu Rana, Dindayal Rana, Nandram Rana, Biddhu Rana, Mantar Rana and two others lost their houses and all worldly possessions. Barns belonging to Yagraj Rana, Ramdin Rana, Gokarna Rana, Baidu Rana, Kaidu Rana and 12 other persons were also burnt.

Fire engines from Dhangadhi and Tikapur municipalities of Kailali and from Mahendranagar municipality of Kanchanpur district were rushed to the spot.
