Blast damages house
BARA: An unidentified gang of three detonated a socket bomb in a house belonging to Mithu Bharati, CPN-UML’s former vice chairman of Manharwa VDC at Manarwa-3 on Saturday night damaging the windowpanes of the house, the Bara District Police Office said. — HNS
Imported car seized
BIRGUNJ: Police seized an illegally imported car from a garage at Adarshanagar in Birgunj-13 on Saturday night. The car was parked in the garage dnd the cops seized it after getting a tip off, police inspector KP Sharma said. As nobody has come to claim the vehicle and it has not been registered in the concerned office of transport management, Sharma added, preparations are on to hand it over to the Birgunj Customs Office for necessary action. — HNS
Five held for murder
RAUTAHAT: Police arrested five persons from Rautahat’s Tegraha VDC on charge of involvement in the murder of a woman on Sunday. According to SP Laxman Neupane, Kishori Baitha, Baldev Raut, Kathari Baitha and two others were arrested for interrogation. Kishori had allegedly killed Mahendra Baitha’s 35-year-old wife following a dispute on Tuesday. — HNS
Relief for IDPs
DAILEKH: Relief was provided on Saturday to some 54 families of conflict victims who have returned to their villages in Dailekh’s Salleri VDC, as part of Internally Displaced Relief Support Programme. Foodstuff and agricultural inputs equivalent to Rs 10,000 each were distributed to the internally displaced persons in the western part of the district.
Maize, rice, wheat and articles like hammer, axe, blankets, gallons and tents contributed by Save the Children US were distributed to the victims in coordination with the district chapter of Nepal Red Cross Society, NRCS district chairman, Khemraj KC said. — HNS
Body recovered
SURKHET: A body of an unknown person in a blue brown waist-coat and a blue half pant was recovered by locals in eastern Surkhet’s Maintada VDC-7 Lode on Sunday. The body that bore strangulation marks was recovered from a paddy field below Surkhet’s Chhinchu - Jajarkot road at around 07:00 am. Surkhet district police office said the body was sent to Surkhet for the post-mortem. — HNS
