KATHMANDU: The third Israeli Film Festival, organised by the Israeli Embassy, will begin from May 27. The screenings of this three-day festival will be held at the Russian Culture Centre, Kamalpokhari starting from 27-29 May 2008.

An Israeli Embassy press release states that the Israeli film industry is vivid and diversified reflecting many aspects of life in Israel.

It has undergone major developments since its inception in 1950s. The movies selected for the festival will expose the viewers to a fascinating facet of the modern Israeli culture.

Six films will be screened as part of the festival. Most of the them are winners of the international film awards. Free Zone won the Best Actress award at Cannes Film Festival in 2005. Sallah Shabati became the first Israeli Film to be nominated in Academy Award in 1964 in the category best foreign language film. Entry is free and passes are available at the venue on the day of show.
