Dhangadhi, May 27:
Maoists beat up a Kailali-based journalist here today for writing news against the Young Communist League.
Editor of Hamar Pahura Lucky Chaudhary, who was already beaten up by some YCL cadres yesterday, was thrashed by Maoist leader Ram Samajh Chaudhary and other cadres.
Ram and other Maoists beat up Chaudhary when the latter was at Kailali district administration office with a team of mediapersons and rights activists to lodge a complaint against the YCL. FNJ Kailali president Dirgha Raj Upadhyaya flayed the police for remaining as mute spectators when the incident happened. Chaudhary had written a news report in Dhangadhi Post and Sri Nepal Times about the YCL’s act of collecting tax from a fish farming at Urma VDC. Maoist district secretary Utsav said today the YCL has no hand in the incident.
