Blasts in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ: Two bombs were detonated at Pokhariya of Birgunj, Parsa, on Thursday night. However, the bombs, triggered by underground group Hindu Sena Nepal, caused no damage, police said. The bombs were detonated in a vegetable market, some 200 metres north of Pokhariya Area Police Office. A person identifying himself as Amar, commander of Hindu Sena Nepal, called scribes to own up the bombings. —HNS

Two hurt in mishap

BHAIRAHAWA: Two persons were injured in a road accident in Rupandehi district on Thursday

night. Chinna Aadu, 20, of Majhgawa and Satulla Musalman, 18, of Mahajidiya were hurt when the tractor heading towards Amuwa from Mahajidiya turned turtle at Amuwa, Rupandehi District Police Office said. Injured Aadu and Musalman were undergoing treatment in Bhairahawa-based Medical College. —HNS

Boy drowns

LAMAHI: A 12-year-old boy, Surendra Gharti, son of Minna Bahadur Gharti of Satabariya-1 Banagai, drowned in Arjun river on Thursday. Gharti had gone there for swimming. The body was handed over to his relatives after post-mortem, police said. —HNS
