Sent-up exams begin:

KATHMANDU: Sent-up examinations began from Thursday in the mid-western development region. Altogether 18,057 students from 427 secondary schools are taking the examinations, according to a section officer at the Regional Education Directorate, Surkhet, Kapildev Gautam. In Surkhet district, 2,335 students from 52 secondary schools are taking the examinations. — RSS

Women, MDGs and BPFA :

KATHMANDU: An interaction on ‘Linkages between Beijing Platform for Action (BPFA) and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)’ was held on Thursday on the present situtaion of women and women’s rights activism. The participants made attempts to reach an understanding on the linkages between the BPFA and MDGs among women activists. Sancharika Samuha’s executive president Bandana Rana, and Faruq Faisel, director of IMPACS, were among those who attended the meet. — HNS

Library training begins:

KATHMANDU: The Public Administration Campus has launched a six-day Internet and online library management training. Chairman of the TU Grant Commission, professor Dr Bidur Prasad Upadhyaya, spoke on the objectives and aspects of the training. The training is being run under the financial assistance of the commission. — RSS

Temple constructed:

BHAKTAPUR: The Bindabasini temple was constructed at Biruwadada of Dadhikot VDC, Bhaktapur, recently. Locals and VDC office had donated about Rs 700,000 for the construction. A religious fair is organised there every year on the occasion of Ramnawami, said locals.— RSS

Technical education meet:

KATHMANDU: With a view to promoting technical and vocational education systems across the country under one roof, a two-day technical education and vocational training coordination seminar began on Thursday. Discussions on enhancement of competency for orga nisations involved in technical and vocational training for on-demand manpower within and outside the country will be held during the workshop, being organised by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training. — RSS
