Youth abducted
RAJBIRAJ: An armed gang of nine persons abducted Naresh Rajak, 22, from Jamuni Madhepura-5 of Saptari district on Wednesday night, brother of abductee Dev Sundar said. Rajak used to run a shop at Khurhuriya chowk in Mallekpur VDC, Dev said.
In another incident, an Indian national Mohamad Islam, who was abducted by an unidentified gang from Dhangadhi-6 on June 4, was rescued from Praswani VDC of Saptari district on Thursday. Mango trader Mohamad is a resident of Begusaraya of Bihar, inspector Gyanendra Phuyal said. — HNS
Two crushed to death
BARA: Two persons died in a mishap in Bara district on Thursday. Truck helper Raju Lama, 20, of Chitwan and mechanic Shesh Samsul Miya, 22, of Simara-6 were crushed to death when a jack collapsed while they were repairing a truck in Piparasimara-3 of the district, the Pathalaiya-based central regional traffic police office said. — HNS
ARV shortage
SIRAHA: The Siraha District Hospital has been facing a shortage of anti-rabies vaccines for four days. It had received 250 vials of vaccine from the Biratnagar-based regional medical store for July. Five to eight persons have been returning from the hospital without being vaccinated, senior medical superintendent Dr Rajkumar Chaudhary said. — HNS
Extortionist held
Nepalgunj: Police on Wednesday arrested a person on the charge extorting people in the name of the Tarai Madhes Revolutionary Party in Nepalgunj. The arrested — Hari Chhetri of Bardiya’s Shivapur-9 — was made public at a press conference today. He was arrested from his rented room, along with pamphlets and letter pads, said SP Ghanashyam Bhatta. Chhetri, a former YCL cadre, began targeting businessmen and jewellery shops after he was expelled by the YCL, police said. — HNS
