The movie begins with the introduction of Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapoor), a budding architect, the outstanding student of his batch who everyone feels will make it big. But things don’t work out as expected, the real world has something very different in store for him. Bad luck seems to have decided to cling to him and for five years he has been facing one failure after another. With him all the way is his buddy Hiten Patel (Vishal Malhotra). Then one day he goes to see a fortune teller Haseena Banu Jaan (Juhi Chawla), who lets him into a secret for his success — to find his lucky charm that will guarantee his success.

Along the way he time and again bumps into Priya (Vidya Balan), and whenever they meet, it is always jinxed and they end up quarrelling with each other. Then one fine day the realisation dawns upon Raj that Priya is his lucky charm. And so it is upon him to make sure that she is with him when his important dealings with Sanjeev Gill (Om Puri) are being made. The contract for a new shopping mall that Raj is dying to get from has to be constructed demolishing the community centre which Priya is associated with and Priya is totally against the establishment of this new mall. And there is his old school classmate Dev who his trying his best to get this contract too.

But since Raj needs this contract so much, he lies to Priya about the new project so that he can keep her near him. And it is the ups and downs he faces, the deception and facing reality that form the story.

This movie has a new concept to offer — the beginning, which though unbelievable, is entertaining enough, but as it moves forward, the end is pretty much the regular run of the mill story. The movie with different ingredients is mixed together well and has a humorous touch to it, which makes it interesting and enjoyable. The first half is fast paced, but it is the second half that doesn’t quite have the same kind of impact. The songs though good seem to just pop out of nowhere — quite bad timing.

As for the actors Shahid plays both his innocent and angry parts quite well. Vidya’s character is a bit difficult to comprehend, at times she’s this really ferocious girl and then she becomes this nauseatingly sweet girl, which she does carry out well. But things just don’t seem to be working between the two on screen with Shahid’s boyish looks and her mature looks. And it surely is her dress sense that is really disappointing. Juhi brings life to the few scenes she is seen in. Om Puri as expected is good and it definitely is Himani Shivpuri’s performance that makes you laugh and stays with you.

The movie is worth a watch, nothing exceptional by Aziz Mirza this time, but something you can go and enjoy.
