Kathmandu, July 26:
Nepali Congress (NC) Constituent Assembly (CA) member Nabindra Raj Joshi said today that a committee formed by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had decided to prepare a master plan for the preservation of Hanumandhoka Durbar Square and promote tourism in the world heritage site.
Organising a press conference, Joshi, chief of the committee, emphasised the need of concerted efforts of all concerned for the renovation as well as the preservation of Hanumandhoka palace complex. “We have decided to establish a mini-theatre where cultural performances will be showcased to preserve and promote Newari culture and tradition,” he said.
Representatives of Guthi Sansthan, the Department of Archaeology and political parties are members of the committee. The committee has decided to renovate the temple of Taleju Bhavani and maintain a database of items of archaeological importance in the Hanumandhoka Durbar area.
Joshi said he would use the house allowance that he gets from government for the preservation of cultural items. “I have deposited the amount in a development bank as seed money,” Joshi added.
