Reports have been received here from various parts of the country of various programme being organised on the occasion of the 2546th birth anniversary of lord Gautam Buddha.

In Ramechap, on the occasion Buddhist society, Ramechap organised a peace rally that went round various parts of Manthali bazaar, the district headquarters. Chief of various offices, District Development Committee (DDC) office-bearers, employees, representatives of NGOs, political workers, intellectuals, legal practitioners and journalists took part in the rally.

Likewise, in Nuwakot, the Tamang Cultural Upliftment Society, Nuwakot organised a peace Marck from Trisuli bazaar to Dhunge bazaar.

Marking the same occasion, a religious discourse was organised in ward no-1 of Bidur municipality. In Beni, the peace rally taken out by the Myagdi Buddhist association turned into a gathering following a roundup of the main bazaar.

Speaking at the gathering, DDC chairman Nawaraj Sharma expressed the view that adoption of Buddhist principle will help wipe out anomalies and aberrations from the society.

A secondary school level oratory contest was also organised.

In Parbat, on the occasion chairperson of helping hands international Narayan Shrestha unveiled the statue of lord Buddha installed at the Buddhist monastery built by the local Namobuddha Ama Samuha. A four feet tall statue of lord Gautam Buddha was installed at the monastery built at the cost of Rs16,00,000.

Similarly, in Chitwan, speaking at a programme organised at the Buddhist religion service society, Bharatpur, Dalsingh Lama and Society chairperson Devendra Gurung everyone should work towards restoring peace in the birthplace of lord Buddha, the profounder of world peace.

A peace march and motorcycle rally was also organised on the occasion. Likewise, twenty-three persons including six women took part in the blood donation programme organised to mark the occasion. In Pokhara, the 2546th Buddha Jayanti was celebrated praying for an end to violence, terror and murder and restoration of peace, good governance and tranquillity.
