On January 31, Ravin Lama, managing director, The Himalayan Times, at a function, organised by Technical and Skill Development Centre for the Blind and the Disabled (TSDCBD) inaugurated a kiln constructed within its premises at Nagaun, Kirtipur.

The Himalayan Times had donated a sum of Rs 1,00,000 as financial assistance to the TSDCBD, which they have utilised to construct the kiln. TSDCBD is a non-profit organisation, established in 1991 and has been providing professional training to the differently abled to assist them in earning their livelihood.

“I’m immensely grateful to The Himalayan Times for its precious contribution”, said Sashi Kala Singh, chairman and founder of TSDCBD, “particularly, because we couldn’t have constructed the kiln without this particular support from The Himalayan Times and also because the organisation thrives on donations,” she added.

At the International Food Festival organised by The Himalayan Times TSDCBD too had stalled earthenware, ceramic masks and sculptures, candles, chalk, doormats and tablemats made by them at the festival. During the festival, they were able to make a sale of about Rs 17,000, “which couldn’t have been of much help without contributions from The Himalayan Times, Rotary club and individual donors”, said Sushil Man Singh Pradhan, director, TSDCBD.

TSDCBD has been fighting for a just and equitable environment for differently abled for the last 14 years so that they can flourish intellectually and professionally and it expects donors to come forward and contribute.
