LOS ANGELES: Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr has turned his back on wild partying — his ideal night of entertainment is in front of the TV watching old episodes of The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes. The Iron Man star is set to play the fictional detective in a new film adaptation by Madonna’s director husband Guy Ritchie. And he is researching the part by watching the classic British show — adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories. With a contemporary tone, he adds. “I think what’s contemporary about it is that you go back to the real truth of Sherlock Holmes — that he’s a lot more broad and less stoic than I remember seeing him depicted. He’s a bare knuckle boxer, a martial artist and a complete weirdo which is why I said I’d love to do this.”
