Dang, August 29:

Two persons were held on the suspicion of shooting at district committee member of the CPN (Maoist) Kaluram Chaudhari, 32, of Urhari VDC-8 in Dang district last night, police said, identifying the arrested as Jagat Chaudhari and Kul Bir Chaudhari.

Maoist cadres brought Kaluram, who was critically injured in the attack, to Tulsipur for treatment. The Maoist cadre was taken to the Nepalgunj-based Bheri zonal hospital after first aid in Tulsipur.

On the suggestion of the zonal hospital, Kaluram was taken to the Kohalpur Medical College for further treatment. Arrestee Jagat is a cadre of the United Tharu National Front, whereas the injured is a former district chairman of the front.
