Dysentery kills six in a week

Dipayal, August 29:
Six persons have died of dysentery in Deuralikot village development committee, Bajhang, in course of a week. According to the Far Western Regional Health Directorate, Dipayal, the disease has spread in ward no. 4 and 5 of the VDC.
Govinda Prasad Joshi (46) was among the dead, officer at the directorate Ram Chandra Ojha said, adding that identities of the other deceased were yet to be ascertained. “The other deceased couldn’t be identified because it takes two days to reach the village from district headquarters Chainpur and the telephone service there has also been disrupted,” he added.
More than 12 patients are undergoing treatment in District Public Health Office, Chainpur and Seti Zonal Hospital, Dhangadhi. A medical team led by Dr Khagendra Bhandari has been sent to the village to control the disease, the directorate said.
