Two killed in fire
DIPAYAL: Two children were killed when a house in Bageshwori VDC-2 of Bajura district was engulfed by fire on Thursday. Pare Budha’s four-year-old daughetr Laxmi and three-year-old son died in the incident, police said. Property worth Rs 1 million was gutted in the incident. — HNS

KAPILVASTU: An armed gang looted property worth Rs 700,000 from four houses in Bagadi of Patiriya VDC-6 in Kapilvastu district. Police said the gang looted property from the houses of Khem Raj Bhandari, Chabhi Lal Bhandari, Bharat Gaire and Suna Kumari Pandey. — RSS

DAMAULI: Twenty new leprosy cases have been reported in Tanahun district during the last 14 months. According to District Health Office, they are being treated in different health posts including Damauli, Bandipur, Puran Dihi, Khairenitaar, Tharpu, Jyamruk and Dhorphirdi. — RSS
Man held for rape
CHITWAN: Police have arrested Shiv Bahadur Thapa (40) of Kaparkhori in Ratnagar Municipality-2 on the charge of raping two minor girls on Tuesday. Police said Thapa has been accused of rape of two sisters — one 12-year-old and another 15 year-old — when there was no one in the house on the day of Teej festival. — RSS
Tuskers trample two
JANAKPUR: Two persons were killed when wild elephants attacked them
in two different places in Dhanusha on Thursday. Six-year-old Nisha Pokhrel, the daughter of Nanda Kishor Pokhrel, of Sakhuwa, Mahendra Chowk, died on the spot after the Tusker attacked her, police said. Similarly, Ramasish Mahato, 60, of Nakjhikitiya VDC was also trampled to death by another elephant. — HNS
11 arrested
SIRAHA : A joint patrol team of the Armed Police Force and civil police arrested two persons on the charge of involvement in extortion, murder and robbery on Thursday. The arrested are Chandra Narayan Chaudhary, 35, and Harichan Mahato, 48, of Bhawanipur-9 Medinipur Tole. A motorbike and a pistol were seized from them. Similarly, APF personnel arrested nine persons and seized a van from them on the charge of extortion, murder and abduction on Wednesday night. — HNS
Fraud arrested
DAMAK: Police have arrested Bikas Basnet of Satasidham VDC of Jhapa for cheating youths by luring them with lucrative jobs abroad. Locals said Basnet had collected at least Rs 700,000 from at least nine people by promising them with jobs in Dubai. Police said Basnet’s accomplices Roma Chapagain and Sushila Chapagain have been absconding. — RSS

BARDIBAS: A 75-year-old man married a 16-year-old girl of his neighbourhood here on Wednesday. Brihaspati Mushahar of Sakari Tole of Bhangaha VDC-5 married Jogina Mushahar, the daughter of Ram Pujan Mushahar of the same locality. — RSS
