Remixed cassettes banned:
KATHMANDU: Remixed cassettes and CDs are prohibited, by the order of the court. The appellate court of Patan has issued an interim order prohibiting the distribution, production, purchase and sale of remixed audio-visual cassettes. The order was passed in connection with a case filed by Ram Thapa, a singer and songwriter, who had filed a writ petition in the court charging that a company, Opel International, had violated the law by selling original songs with remixed music. — RSS
Disease control training:
BHAKTAPUR: A five-day-long training on ‘Stopping infectious diseases’ began at
the Bhaktpur hospital on Tuesday. The training course has been organised by the Nahuda Women Health Organisation of Lalitpur. The organisation’s aim is to impart training to the peons and sweepers on ways to ward off infectious diseases. Some twenty persons are participating in the training course. Kalpana Giri, one of the representatives of the Nahuda Women’s Helath Organisation, said that there was an urgent need to increase health awareness among people at all levels in order to ward off infectious diseases. — RSS
