Kapilvastu, October 13:

Commander of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh (JTMM-J) Sikander has threatened Kapilvastu correspondent of The Himalayan Times Krishna Prasad Dhakal of life.

Sikander threatened him in connection with the publication of news regarding the donation drive of Tarai-based armed outfits including the JTMM-J, Dhakal said. Sikander threatened Dhakal over the phone on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Issuing separate press statements, Kapilvastu chapters of the Federation of Nepali Journalists,

Nepal Press Union, Press Chautari Nepal, Revolutionary Journalists’ Union, Madhes Media Society, Madhesi Journalists’ Society and INSEC condemned the threat against a working journalist. They also asked the authorities concerned to protect Dhakal’s life.

“We have informed the central office of the FNJ about the threat,” Bheshraj Pandey, president of FNJ’s district chapter, said.

Meanwhile, Sikander telephoned Pandey and told him that he had no bad intention against Dhakal, according to Pandey.
