Itahari, October 17:

Victims of the Saptakoshi flood fury forwarded memorandums with a 10-point charter of demands to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Sunsari District Administration Office today.

The victims have threatened to go for a phasewise general strike from November 2 if the government fails to address their demands.

Their demands include land for flood victims, immediate rehabilitation, waiver of loans and compensation for damaged houses, cattle and paddy fields.

They have also called for the issuance of scientific ration cards in place of temporary ones to the genuine victims.

On the first day of the strike, the victims living in relief camps plan to wear black arm bands.

The victims plan to stage a stage a sit-in at the district administration office on November 3, organise a corner meeting on November 5, shut district headquarters Inaruwa on November 6, 7 and 8, and organise a protest rally on November 10.

According to the memorandum, the victims have plan to launch a general strike from November 11 if their demands are not met.
