Dhangadhi, October 21:

The Dhangadhi in-charge of Youth Force (YF) Ganesh Hamal thrashed a policeman on duty at Ward Police Office last night.

Hamal, who went to the police office at around 10 pm to free Arjun Malla of Dhangadhi-2, thrashed policeman Birjit Chudara after the latter refused to hand over the keys of the lockup to him. Malla is in police custody on the charge of robbery.

Chudara sustained injuries in his head and is undergoing treatment in Seti Zonal Hospital, the police said.

“Hamal verbally abused me and hit me in my head with bricks when I refused to give him the key of the lockup,” Chudara said, adding that Hamal had come to the police office with two other YF cadres.

The incident occurred when police personnel from the office, including in-charge Dharma Singh Bista, had gone out on a patrol. However, the team returned and arrested the district chief of the UML’s youth wing (Hamal) and another YF cadre Samrat Singh while they were trying to flee.

“The third YF cadre, however, managed to flee. The two have been kept in Kailali District Police Office Office,” the police said.
