Lalitpur, October 23:

Nepali Congress (NC) acting president Sushil Koirala today accused the CPN-Maoist of not abiding by past agreements.

Koirala said this while inaugurating a national gathering of Maoist victims organised under the aegis of the Nepal Maoist Victims’ Association (NMVA) at the Nepali Congress headquarters.

“In the past, parties used to work in tandem. The CPN-Maoist has abandoned this practice.”

The NC stalwart accused parties in the ruling coalition of forgetting their responsibilities.

“Around 95 per cent of the Maoist victims are affiliated to the Nepali Congress,” Koirala claimed. “We all should stay united to pressure the government to meet demands of the Maoist victims.”

At the programme, other speakers, identifying themselves as Maoists’ victims, said parties

will have to suffer if their interests are not taken care of. Bhoj Raj Timilshina, coordinator of the Maoist Victims’ National Struggle Committee, called upon the government to fulfil their demands at the earliest. “We are discussing forms of protest that will make the government pay heed to our woes,” added Timilshina.
