Ban on crackers

PHIDIM: The Panchthar District Administration Office has imposed ban on the sale of firecrackers in district headquarters Phidim and other adjoining areas from Saturday. The DAO took the decision following the suggestion of an all-party meeting with to maintain law and order during the Tihar festival. — HNS

Transport resumes

RAUTAHAT: Vehicular movement in the Gaur-Chandranigahpur road, that was halted for the last two days, resumed from Saturday. Teachers’ organisations, rights activists, political parties and NGOs had halted vehicular movement in the road in protest of the killing of school teacher Sunil Raya Yadav at Gonahi on Friday. — HNS

Man found dead

NAWALPARASI: A body of a male aged around 45 was found under the Arunkhola Bridge in Nayabelhani VDC of Nawalparasi on Saturday. The body has been taken to a hospital for post-mortem. The police said that the person might have died due to excessive consumption of liquor. —HNS

Two seized with arms

MAHOTTARI: Two activists of Sanyukta Janatantrik (Ananda) were arrested with weapons from Jaleshwor municipality chowk in Mohattari district on Saturday, the police said. The arrestees — Biki Thakur of Bathanaha VDC and Santosh Singh of Koluwa Bageya VDC — have been kept at the Mahottari District Police Office for investigation. —HNS
