Biratnagar, November 17:

Youth Force activists today caught hold of Jamadar

Nanda Kumar Raya, an employee of the Morang District

Forest Office, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Abiral Lal Ganagain, the owner of Satwawoti Furniture Factory in Sorabhag-3.

Ganagain said he was forced to bribe Raya after ranger of the Morang DFO, Ram Narayan Gupta, barred him from taking timber to Biratnagar.

Raya reportedly helped take the timber to Biratnagar

after Ganagain agreed to pay

the bribe.

Ganagain had come to Biratnagar to bribe the official after informing the Youth Force.

“Raya had asked 7,000, but later said Rs 5,000 will do,” said Ganagain.

A team headed by Youth Force city in-charge Manoj Khadka has handed over Raya to the DFO. Acting chief of the DFO, Devi Koirala, pledged to investigate the incident.
