Sankhuwasabha, November 23:

With no medicine in its stock for over a week, the Madi Rambeni health post in the district only has condoms to offer to the patients.

Bishnu Santoshi Rai, assistant health worker at the health post, said the health post had no medicine to offer because the District Public Health Office (DPHO) failed to replenish the stock of the health post on time. “The DPHO should have replenished our stock by October,” Rai said, adding, “We have no option but to shut down the post even during daytime.”

According to the health post, some 50 patients are being returned from the health post every day.

However, DPHO said it couldn’t supply medicines on time because it too hadn’t received the delivery of medicines from regional health office.

“We are preparing to demand medicine stock for health institutions in the district.
