Elderly abducted
Mahottari: An unidentified gang abducted an elderly man from Ramnagar in Mahottari district on Tuesday. The abductee, Jaya Bahadur Moktan, 60, is a resident of Ramnagar, and was on his way home from Gaushala when he was abducted. “A gang of nine have demanded Rs 5 lakhs as ransom over the phone,”

Houses gutted
BHOJPUR: Two houses belonging to Manaraj Rai and Sri Bahadur Rai in Sanodumma Village Development Committee-4, Bhojpur, were gutted on Tuesday morning. The fire is learnt to have started when there was nobody in the houses. Buffaloes, bullocks and goats were also burnt to death, along with the loss of property. Cause of fire remains unknown and a team of security personnel has gone to the area, police said. — HNS
Staffer killed
Nawalparasi: All government offices at Nawalparasi district remained closed on Tuesday protesting the murder of Dal Bahadur Rawat, a
district agriculture office employee. Government employees’ organisations, as well as the employees’ union, called the bandh. The employees have accused the government of being incompetent in providing a sense of peace and security. The bandh affected service seekers
