Mishap claims two lives

Charikot, November 29:

Two persons were killed and 40 were injured in separate accidents in different parts of the country today.

Anglamu Sherpa (21) of Chankhu-3 and an unidentified person were killed when a bus heading to Singati from Kathmandu met with an accident in Damarang of Suspa Chyamabati-5 in Dolakha today.

The ill-fated bus, with 45 passengers on board, skidded 55 metres down the road, according to the police.

“Thirty-five persons were injured in the accident,” District Police Office, Dolakha, said, adding that 32 of the injured are undergoing treatment in Gaurishankar Hospital and Chho-Rolpa Hospital in Charikot.

Three critically injured — Tapendra Pathak, Sukdev Pathak and Birkha Bahadur Thami — have been taken to Kathmandu for treatment.

Meanwhile, three persons were injured when a bus heading to Jiri from Kathmandu skidded off the road at Sukute along the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk today.

“Condition of Gokarna Karki of Lamosanghu and Om Chaulagain of Rautahat is critical,” District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, said.

In another incident, two persons were seriously injured when a bus heading to Chandranigahpur from Gaur collided with a motorbike in Chandranigahpur of Rautahat today.

“The injured have been identified as Ramesh Thapa of Santapur-3 and Keshav Karki of Bhaktipur VDC in Sarlahi,” Chandranigahpur Area Police Office said, adding that they are being treated in Narayani Sub-regional hospital, Birgunj.
