Kathmandu:
Now whom shall I call on stage?” shouted Ashish Syangden, and the whole Jawlakhel ground reverberated with one name — “Raju Lama”.
As the crowd started shouting, “Raju Lama, Raju Lama”, the man of the event walked on to the stage with Nepal’s flag in his hand and the crowd went wild.
He entered singing Malai bolai rahecha and no other song could be more appropriate than this as he was performing after a gap of two years. He started his performance with full zest, which was equally reciprocated by the enthusiastic crowd that was elated to hear their favourite singer after such a long time. And the energy remained so throughout the Save Music Yatra 3 concert which is the singer’s first ever in Kathmandu.
Talking about his concert Lama said, “It felt like I used to before every concert — I was more excited than nervous. When I saw the crowd, I was even more happy.”
He said that it felt great to see such a good turnout and is especially happy to receive “such a warm welcome after being away from fans for some time”.
The audience jumped, clapped shouted and even sang songs along with the singer. Lama also kept interacting with his audience. Be it slow numbers like Parkhaima or rock numbers like Mann ma chha Nepal, everyone present at the ground loved each and every number, and it looked like most of them knew the lyrics of all songs. While Lama’s hit numbers like Badal pari ko desh bata, Na tanu ta tanu lagne and Soltini Kanchhi got special cheers, his new songs like Halla Chalecha was also equally welcomed by his fans. He had written Halla Chalecha after rumours surfaced that he had disappeared in the US.
No other song but one of the most popular number of his Shayad could have given superb finale to this rocking concert.
The opening was done by Kid Soul with his famous Hami dherai sana chaun and Mimgma Sherpa was another performer at the event. Sherpa prepped up the crowd with his popular songs like Namuna, Chham chham and Aanshu. The event was organised by Namaste Entertainment Pvt Ltd with Annapurna Post as the official print media.
