Nepali farmers have been found using excessive chemical pesticides to achieve better agriculture yields. Officials said the average chemical pesticide use in Nepal was 3 kg
per hectare.
According to a study carried out by the pesticide registration and management department, 93 per cent of thr farmers use chemical pesticides in their fields. The division conducted the study in Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Bara, Sarlahi and Kavre districts.
Chief of the communication, publication and documentation division of Nepal Agriculture Research Council Dr Krishna Poudel said the use of chemical pesticides was on the rise every day. He said farmers use at least 3 kg of pesticides per hectare of land on an average.
