Kathmandu, January 6:
The Constituent Assembly (CA) today rescheduled, for the fourth time, the long overdue elections of the chairpersons of 14 CA committees and 10 parliamentary committees.
The new date is slated for January 13.
The elections for the chairpersons of the CA and the legislature parliament had been scheduled today at 8 am and 10 am respectively.
A meeting of the business management consultation committee of the CA today decided to postpone the election date to allow the political parties more time to reach to a consensus on committee heads.
CPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML leaders today held first round of meetings to forge consensus for chairpersons of the CA committees. But the meeting could not make any progress.
Meanwhile, the legislative meeting of the CA could not be held even today after some agitating fringe parties threatened to disrupt the House proceedings over Scholarship (third amendment) Bill 2008.
