Kathmandu, February 5:
Nepal Indigenous Nationality Students’ Federation (NINSF) today asked Tribhuwan University to adopt proportional election system for Free Student Union (FSU) election. It also asked the TU to amend the FSU statute to incorporate the new system.
Presenting a concept paper on election procedure at an interaction, the NINSF said it would take part in the election with a slogan to change the election system. Ganga Bahadur Thapa, chief of Sports and Student Welfare Division at TU, said the election could be held under any system if the students’ unions forged consensus among them.
Student union leaders also said the election system could be changed through consensus.
Madhesi students’ unions’ leaders said they would not let the FSU election happen without restructuring the FSU.
