Butwal, February 16:

Foreign representatives at the eighth general convention of CPN-UML today wished for establishment of peace and stability in Nepal.

Addressing the inaugural session of the convention at Butwal Mandap, chief of the Chinese Communist Party’s delegation Liu Hang Chai suggested the parties to go ahead with mutual understanding to establish peace and stability.

He also said China always supported Nepali people’s effort for independence,

sovereignty and regional integrity. Chai, who is also a minister in the Chinese government, suggested the UML to contribute to nation development by putting the Marxist ideology into

practice.

Mohamad Amin, leader of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), said the historic changes in Nepal had also made impacts on South Asian countries, including India, Pakistan and Bhutan. Amin, who is also a member of the Upper House of India, said the days of capitalist economic system had numbered.

Addressing the convention, Sri Lankan Communist Party’s general secretary Deuguna Sekhara shed light on the world communist movement and on bi-lateral relations between Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Forty-five foreign representatives from 16 countries were present in the inaugural session of the convention.

Representatives of communist parties of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Greece,

Spain, Russia, Germany and Sweden, among others, were also present in the inaugural session.
