Kathmandu, February 18:
Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare Durga Shrestha today urged the Army Officers’ Wives’ Association to launch relief packages for spouses of army personnel killed during war with Maoists.
Minister Shrestha was speaking while inaugurating a fair organised by the Association to mark Queen Komal’s 55th birthday today. Shrestha also urged the Association to launch skill oriented trainings for the widows. The chairperson of the Association, Kamala Thapa, assured that the income of the fair would be spent in different welfare programmes of widows of army personnel. She also urged the civil society and intellectuals to support the army personnel who are fighting for the nation. The three-day fair is being organised in front of the Tribhuvan Army Officers’ Club in Kathmandu and is open for everyone, it is informed.
