Four hurt in blast

BIRGUNJ: Four persons were injured in a blast in Birgunj on Wednesday night. Police said the blast went off in an eatery at Minabazaar. The police arrested one person on suspicion of his involvement in the blast. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry enforced a ‘Police Code of Conduct 2009’ from Wednesday for Nepal Police and Armed Police Force. The 46-point Code of Conduct was brought about to improve the behaviour of policemen and make their duty more responsible and effective. — HNS

CIAA suspends official

KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Wednesday directed the Remote Area Development Committee to immediately suspend the chief of its Nepalgunj office. The CIAA indicted him of illegally amassing property worth over Rs 12 million.— HNS

VDC office padlocked

HETAUDA: NC cadres padlocked the office of Dhaise VDC once again from Tuesday. The office was opened after 13 days of closure on Monday by political parties other than the NC. Accusing the VDC of failing to deliver services, the NC had padlocked the office on February 20. Shyam Sundar Gorkhali, NC VDC president, said other parties unlocked the office without consulting with the NC. “So we were compelled to padlock the office again,” he added. — HNS
