Kathmandu, March 5:

Several unions and civil servants working in forest sector have demanded strong action against those involved in physically assaulting and forest employees in Siraha and Banke districts.

Issuing a statement in Kathmandu today, Nepal Forest Technicians’ Union, Nepal Rangers’ Union, Junior Forest Technicians’ Union Nepal and the forestry unit of Nepal Civil Servants’ Organisation expressed concern about the growing cases of attacks on forest workers by the police and cadres of various political parties. They claimed that the workers were terrorised due to the series of attacks on forest officials. Demanding stern action against the perpetrators of the attacks on forest workers, the unions warned of nationwide protests if

their security was not guaranteed.
