NSU flays ANNISU- R

KATHMANDU: Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) on Saturday accused the ANNISU- R, the student wing of the Unified Maoist, of resorting to excessive force to capture the upcoming Free Students’ Union (FSU) elections. Issuing a press statement, the NSU flayed the non-political activities of ANNISU- R in recent days, describing its activities as an unsuccessful attempts to impose totalitarianism and absolutism in colleges. NSU also condemned the ‘symbolic attack’ staged by ANNISU- R in TU Central Campus, Kirtipur, on Friday evening. According to the statement, TU Unit Secretary of NSU Jeevlal Kharel, Santosh Poudel and Tirtha Gautam were injured in the attack. — HNS

Airport closed

DAMAK:The only airport in Jhapa has been closed since Friday for reconstruction of the runway. The Civil Aviation Authority, Bhadrapur, said the airport would be closed for a month. Rs 89 million has been allocated for the reconstruction. — HNS
