Nine Pallo Kirant activists freed

Phidim, March 19:

Nine cadres of Pallo Kirant Limbuwan Rastriya Manch (PKLRM) who were arrested for obstructing the vehicle of a team of CA members deputed to collect public opinion on future constitution in Panchthar were released last evening.

The Kirant cadres had obstructed the vehicle of the CA members, claiming that the team had no authority to collect suggestions from the nine districts in the eastern region.

“The arrested Kirant cadres were released after they expressed commitment not to breach the law in the future,” Chief District Officer Dulluraj Basnet said.

Brabin Sherma, Santa Kumar Sewa, Mahendra Sambahamphe, Mahendra Sherma, Raja Andangbe and Misekhang Kerung, among others, were released, the police said. Meanwhile, the local administration tightened security in Phidim due to the frequent clashes between the Pallo Kirant cadres and cadres of the Young Communist League.

Three cadres of Pallo Kirant were injured when they clashed with YCL cadres yesterday.
