Blast hurts youth
SARLAHI: One person was injured when a stray bomb went off in a forest in Narayankhola jungle in Sarlahi district on Saturday. Kanchha Tamang, 18, a resident of Narayankhola-9, was injured when the stray socket bomb went off, the Sarlahi District Police Office said. Tamang sustained critical injuries in his hands and body, the police said, adding, investigation into the incident was on. — HNS
Search for missing on
Dang: Search for the body of a miner who was buried alive four days ago in a coal mine at Chisapani of Tulsipur-10 is still underway. Miner Man Bahadur Kunwar, 25, a resident of Tulsipur-7, was killed when a large mass of soil came crashing down on him while he was working in the mine on Wednesday. Kunwar’s body has not been found yet despite rigorous effort to dig it out from the tunnel for four days. Coal mine workers and the locals, without the help of experts, have been trying to excavate Kunwar’s body. “We are having difficulties in digging out the body since the accident happened in the deeper section of the tunnel,” acting CDO, Radha Krishna Sharma said. — HNS
Girl killed in mishap
TIKAPUR: Lalita Chaudhary of Jhabahi, Joshipur-4, in Kailali died on Friday after a tractor hit her. She died on way to Kohalpur Medical College. Chaudhary, an 11th grader at Janata Higher Secondary School was hit by the tractor while she was returning home from school. — RSS

GAUSHALA: A meeting Nepali and Indian administration and security officials here decided to boost border security during the general elections in India. The meeting was held in Madhubani of India between CDOs, police chiefs and national investigation chiefs of four districts of Nepal — Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha and Sarlahi — and district chiefs of Madhubani, Sitamadhi and Darbhanga districts of India. The five-day meeting agreed to seal Nepal-India border for three days from a day before the election. — RSS
NSU leaders quit
ARGHAKHANCHI: Sixteen members of Nepal Students’ Union (NSU), Arghakhanchi — including the acting president — resigned en masse on Friday night. Acting president of NSU’s district committee Meghraj Pandey, vice president Mahesh Ghimire, secretary Yubaraj Pandey, joint secretary Shesh Kanta Gaire, treasurer Anjan Marasini and joint treasurer Bhagawata Belbase resigned from their posts. District members Sapana Sundar, Prem Acharya, Itan Bhusal, Ambika Bhattarai and Durga Khanal also resigned from their posts. Constituency No 1 president of the union Ganesh Bhandari and vice president Prakash Mani Ghimire and Constituent No 2 president Dharma Raj Bhattarai also stepped down from their posts. — RSS
