Kathmandu:
If ever there was an album launch party that rocked, it had to be the one at Rox, Hyatt on February 18. If there’s one thing (besides many others) that will carry Abhaya and the Steam Injuns through it’s the warmth they exude. I was greeted by the biggest of hugs from Abhaya who looked stunning in a red and black do. Just a hug away were the four band “men”, looking just as striking; Ritesh — in an all black get up, with leather pants to complete the rock star look. Rajeev was playing it cool in cream.
The upper floor was where the CD sales were happening. Just Rs 250 and musical nirvana was yours. The same floor also housed a donation box to raise funds for Helping Hands, a group that works for street children. By 9:30 pm, the band took centrestage. After the launch of their self-titled album by Robin of Robin and the New Revolution and Anil Singh and a concert of eight of their songs it was but obvious that they’d wooed the crowd over to their sides. They concluded with “Here I Come” and justly so… for they have arrived!
