Schools shut BIRGUNJ: Institutional Teachers’ Union has shut private schools indefinitely in the town after proprietor of Gautam Secondary School Sonam Lama thrashed teacher Ranjan Ale. Demanding compensation for the victim and action against the culprit, the agitating teachers sought the implementation of the agreement reached between the schools and the union earlier. One hundred and thirty-three schools have been shut in the district due to the teachers’ protest. Agitating teachers filed a case against Lama at the District Police Office. — THT online

Constable killed HETAUDA: A police constable was killed in a road mishap in Makwanpur district on Friday. Police constable Rapin Kiringring stationed at Kathmandu based Drug Control Office was killed when his out of control motor cycle slammed into an electricity pole at Manhari village development committee-7, Makwanpur District Police Office said. — THT online

DEO padlocked MAHENDRANAGAR: The Joint Students’ Struggle Committee (JSSC) padlocked the Kanchanpur District Education Office on Friday demanding the cancellation of the provision of issuing teaching license. Issuing a press release, JSSC said the issuing of the license should be stopped since the system was not transparent. All official work at the DEO was disrupted due to the protest. JSSC padlocked the DEO stating that it had been distributing forms for the teacher’s license. — THT online
