Kathmandu, April 18: Nepal Police Club (NPC) and defending champions Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) cruised to the quarter-finals of the second Pepsi Seven-A-Side International Football Tournament at the Dasharath Stadium. NPC hammered Inter Sports Club of Butwal 5-0 in a match marred by referring blunder. The match was stopped for about an hour after assistant referee Bijay Gurung ruled Jumanu Rai's strike as a goal after just four minutes. Rai had clearly struck into the side nets but linesman Gurung saw it as a goal. Stunned by the virdict Inter Sports players denied to continue, halting the game for an hour. The match resumed with NPC having a goal advantage. Bhola Silwas doubled the lead in the 37th minute and Yogesh Shrestha made it 3-0 in the 43rd minute. Jumnau Rai struck his second goal four minutes later and Yogesh completed the rout with the fifth and his second in the 49th minute. In another match, Raj Kumar Ghising and Jagjeet Shrestha each scored a brace for MMC, while Nabin Jitenchhu pulled one back for Manipur Team. Ghising opened the scoring early in the first minute and added another in the 38th. Shrestha made it 3-0 in the 41st before scoring his second four minutes later. Jitenchhu replied for the visitors in the 47th minute.
