Spelling contest:

On February 11, an Inter House Spelling Contest was held at Triyog High School. The best spellers of the school took centrestage. In Class I, Begnas House was the winner, in the primary level, Phewa House stood first and in the junior level Tilicho took the top honours. Climbing jamboree:

On February 12, the ‘The Pioneers’ organised climbing Jamboree at Pasang Lhamu Wall Climbing Centre, Maharajgunj. More than 250 students participated in the fete, amongst which 95 attempted the two artificial wall climbs. The participating schools were Triyog High Sch-ool, Oasis Academy, Bhanu Bhakta Memorial High School, Kathmandu International School, R.L. Memorial School, Gyan Niketan Higher Secondary School and Serene Valley School. — Sneha Subedee, Class VIII, Triyog High School

Presentation at KUHS:

On February 11, five boys from class ten and six boys from class nine of St Xavier’s School, Jawalakhel went with their coordinator Hemant Tamang to Kathmandu University High School in Dhulikhel for some presentation work. Class 10 presented ‘Labour’ and class nine’s topic was the Asian catastrophic tsunami. KUHS also gave their own presentation on ‘Junk Food’, ‘Social Discrimination’ and ‘Casteism’. — Nishchal Rijal, Class IX, St. Xavier’s School

Exhibition held:

The Science, Mathematics and Art and Craft Exhibition was held in St Xavier’s Godavari School on Saturday February 19. Rajiv Pradhan, president, GAA and Tom Fricke, professor of anthropology at the University of Michigan were the judges. Students from class II to IX formed groups to perform their science experiments and maths projects where as the various art and handicrafts were displayed in the hall. Cultural exchange:

On February 13, a group of five students and six teachers arrived in Kathmandu from Hendon school London, England. They were in Nepal for 10 days on a cultural and environmental exchange programme, in which they interacted with the students and teachers of St Xaviers, Neptune and Shuvatara School. The entire programme was funded by DFID and King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation. — Alisha Manandhar, Shuvatara School

Shree Panchami held:

Ideal English Higher Secondary School celebrated Shree Panchami at the school premises. Saraswati Puja began in the morning in the presence of students, parents and guests. DAV visits orphanages:

On the occasion of Democracy Day, a group of 15 students and seven teachers of DAV made a visit to “Shree Mother Nepal Disable Association” and “Orphans and Helpless Children Development”.
