Newton lift trophy KATHMANDU: Newton High School claimed the boys' volleyball tournament held under the first Angels’ Heart Sports Festival here on Sunday. Newton rallied for a 19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19 win over Samakhushi English Boarding School. Kusum Pariyar of the winning team was adjudged the man of the match. Hosts Angels’ Heart got walkover win from Deep Jyoti in the third-place decider. In the girls' section, Gyanu Baba beat the hosts 25-10, 25-9, 25-10 to finish third. The girls' final between New Diamond and Angels’ Heart is slated for Monday. Meanwhile, Sameer Rana won the boys' 10km run with the timing of 40 minutes, 45 seconds. Bikash Saiju finished second and Tham Paija third. Srijana Bista won the girls' 5km race at 19 minutes, 27 seconds. Mitthu Shahi and Sadikshya Sharma ended up second and third respectively. — HNS

Inter-agency football KATHMANDU: Defending champions Outreach Nepal edged past SMS Tristar 2-0 to enter the semi-finals of the second Inter-agency Football Tournament, organised by Advertising Agencies of Nepal, on Sunday. Angat Chhetry and Binesh Shrestha scored for Outreach. Outreach will now play ANS Creation and Direction Nepal will face Spectrum Advertising in semi-finals on May 1. The final is scheduled the next day. — HNS

Hira, Pradeep win KATHMANDU: Hira Niraula and Pradeep Shrestha won the physicall challenged National Table Table Tennis Tournament, organised by Nepal Para Olympic Committee here on Sunday. Hira defeated Parbati Adhikari in the women's final while Gyanu Maharjan and Raj Kumari Basnet finished joint third. Likewise, Pradeep beat Rishi Ram Banskota to win the men's championship. Sajiv Shrestha and Sukhadev Poudel ended up joint third. In all 25 players — 15 men and 10 in women's section — took part in the tournament. — HNS
