KATHMANDU: Several political leaders have stressed the need to resolve the present army-government spat through consensus. Speaking at an interaction organised by Madhes Media House on Sunday, CA member and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said the constitution would not be drafted within the stipulated deadline if the current political crisis continued. He said the clarification sought from Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal by the government was just a formality, adding, he was equally responsible for maintaining peace and order in the country. Meanwhile, CA member and leader of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Pramod Gupta said the Madhesi community had also fought for the restoration of democracy and accused that Katawal had ignored Madhesi people while recruiting army personnel. Gupta also underlined the need of national consensus to resolve the ongoing row concerning the Nepali Army.
