Plea against GAESO KATHMANDU: Six branch committees affiliated to the Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen's Organisation (GAESO) have lodged a complaint at the District Administration Office (DAO) for the dissolution of GAESO, expressing concern about the legitimacy of its incumbent leadership. Issuing a press statement on Monday, Dr Ram Narayan Kandangwa, spokesperson for GAESO Central General Assembly Organisers' Committee, said, "The branch committees have also called on the DAO to issue a directive to the leadership to immediately hold fresh general assembly." Dr Kandangwa also accused GAESO chairperson Padam Bahadur Gurung of embezzling millions of rupees of the organisation's funds. — THT Online

NCA lauds prez move KATHMANDU: Nepal Cultural Association accused caretaker Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of trying to bring a totalitarian rule in the nation. Issuing a press release on Monday, NCA claimed that the latest video of the PM clearly revealed his intentions of capturing the state power. The association lauded the step taken by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to reinstate CoAS Katawal after he was unilaterally sacked by the Maoists. It stated that the President's move helped protect the nation's honour. — HNS Arniko school alumni KATHMANDU: The alumni of Arniko Seconday Boarding School, Khumaltar, has formed Arniko Alumni Association. According to a press release issued on Monday, the first executive committee of the new alumni was formed under the presidency of Srijana Lakhey. Manoj Pandit was chosen the vice president, Mahesh Acharya the secretary and Bhushan Krishna Shrestha the treasurer of the nine-member committee. Rabindra Nakarmi, Suraj Shrestha, Rabi Thapa, Revon Maharjan and Prakash Shrestha will be its members. — THT Online

Boudha road open KATHMANDU: The locals of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Boudha, Tusal, withdrew their agitation following the assurance of Jyoti Construction Pvt Ltd -- the contractor assigned to blacktop the road along Boudha-- to construct the Boudha section of the road at the earliest. Locals had obstructed vehicular movement in the area from Thursday to Sunday protesting the delay to blacktop the road. Bijaya Manadhar, a Tusal local, said they were forced to obstruct the traffic to pressure the government for the timely maintenance of the road. He accused the construction company of not completing its work though they had dug up the road two months ago. He threatened to resume agitation if the company failed to blacktop the road at the earliest. — THT Online
